Best MP4 to MP4 Converter is a simple yet effective tool to convert MP4 files containing video content to MP3 files containing sound.

This tool is commonly used to extract the audio from music videos to be stored as music on phones or other devices. There's no installation, and the exe is ready to go as soon as you download it. One impressive feature of this program is that the user does not need to install outside codecs or processing software like ffmpeg.

After putting in the input MP4 file and an output MP3 file, the process was rather quick. The program appears to directly extract the audio layer of the MP4 file rather than re-encode it as some slower converters do. We were also impressed with the option to change the output audio quality from the default 192 kbps.

However, it is not a perfect piece of software. One problem with the software is that it does not automatically detect the initial sound quality. Typically extracted audio files will be 192 kbps, but if the video downloaded has a low quality audio stream embedded, this converter will make a file that is of the size of a file with 192 kbps quality, even if the maximum audio quality is 64 kbps. The other possible issue is the interface. It feels staid and old, and it is not the responsive layout that many software users are looking for.

Finally, if you're looking for something very simple to just do one task: convert MP4 to MP3, this is the tool. If you're looking for advanced muxing options, please look elsewhere (Final Score 4/5).
